  17. <p>    The French call it "L'Oreal's greatest moral scandal." A
  18. corporate feud has focused attention on the pro-Nazi leanings
  19. of the beauty giant's founders. As a result, the U.S. Justice
  20. Department is weighing banishment from American soil for Jacques
  21. Correze, the honorary head of L'Oreal's U.S. affiliate, Cosmair.
  22. The turmoil began after Jean Frydman, a Jewish film mogul,
  23. decided to sell his share in Paravision, a L'Oreal-backed movie
  24. firm. Unhappy with L'Oreal's offer, he sued, making some
  25. provocative charges. He says the company forged his resignation
  26. from Paravision in order to placate Arab boycotters, a plot
  27. engineered by ex-Nazi collaborators like Correze. Fiercely
  28. fighting the claims, L'Oreal does concede that its founder,
  29. Eugene Schueller, was an anti-Semitic fascist who hired Correze
  30. and other ultra-rightists. But that generation no longer runs
  31. L'Oreal. Correze, 80 and ailing, is unlikely to visit the U.S.
  32. even if he is never placed on the same watch list that bars
  33. Austria's Kurt Waldheim.
